CARE SYNC
A shift management app designed to help nurses organize, track, and coordinate hospital schedules efficiently and pacients care.
Overview
Care Sync is an iPad-based shift and ward management application tailored for hospital internal medicine departments. Designed for tablet interfaces, it streamlines daily schedules, patient care tracking, and internal team communication, transforming chaotic, fragmented hospital workflows into an intuitive digital experience that protects nurses from burnout and reduces medical errors.
The Challenges
Designing for a high stress medical environment presents unique user centric hurdles:
Extreme Cognitive Load: Nurses work under constant physical exhaustion, loud ambient noise, and endless distractions. The UI must be instantly readable under stress.
Information Overload: Merging medical records, shift schedules, and urgent notifications into one screen without creating
visual chaos.Resistance to Change: Overcoming the staff’s habits of relying on familiar, physical paper notebooks and verbal handovers.

Research & Insights
By clustering findings from the Empathy & Affinity Mapping, three distinct operational truths emerged:
- The Handover Friction: The transition between shifts is the highest stress point (lowest emotional dip in the CJM). Crucial patient updates are frequently lost during verbal transfers.
- Alert Fatigue: Nurses are bombarded with unprioritized notifications, creating constant anxiety (“Did I forget a critical medication?”).
- Isolation Under Stress: While surrounded by teams, cross tier communication (bedside nurses to doctors) is deeply fragmented
and slow.
User Flow
Main Dashboard → Tasks Screen → TaskRelay (Department Communication) → Patients Ward → Schedule Screen
The Solution
An empathetic, high hierarchy tablet system that acts as a single pane of glass for the nurse on duty. By moving operations to a centralized iPad interface, Care Sync minimizes mental strain, eliminates human error in handovers, and optimizes workflow efficiency by 25%.
